History of Kessel

Proudly towering above the historic centre of Kessel is Keverberg Castle. The beating heart of the village. The more than thousand year old castle was rebuilt from a ruin in 2015 into the most modern castle in the Netherlands. A unique place where past and present meet.

It is lovely to stroll along the Maasboulevard or enjoy the beautiful panorama from Keverberg Castle or from the benches at the church. At the unloading quay you can rent a whisper boat to explore the Maas from the water. You can cross the Maas via the ferry and continue your walk or cycle route.

Relax in this special spot. Or go out. There are beautiful cycling and walking routes through the Limburg landscape. The designer outlet in Roermond is nearby for a day of shopping and Toverland is also only a 15-minute drive away.
